New Jersey Nights | Pavilion, Bournemouth

This post is not sponsored. I was gifted a ticket for myself and a plus one to New Jersey Nights, by BHlive Tickets at the Pavillion in Bournemouth, in exchange for a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

On Tuesday, I went out with my Grandma to go and see New Jersey Nights at the Pavilion in Bournemouth. When I was invited to go, I knew nothing about the show. I had a quick google and immediately found a trailer for the show. I knew it was something I wanted to go and see.

New Jersey Nights celebrates the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

I had honestly never heard of this group (and to be honest, no one that I spoke to seemed to either!). However, whilst I was on my little google session, I found out that the era of the music was from when my Grandma was young. So, I knew that she had to have my second ticket.

My Grandma and I talked about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons on the car ride up to the theatre and over dinner before the show. She told me how she used to listen to the group on the Radio Luxembourg during (and also after) her time in the air force. However, due to money, she could never afford to go and see them in concert. So, I was overjoyed that I was able to bring her along to the show and see her reminisce over her youth.

Anyways, onto the show! Even though I watched the trailer for the show, I still had no idea what to expect. I did see in the trailer that the audience was of a much older generation than myself, so I was kind of dreading it a little. I thought it was going to be one of those shows that only older people would appreciate. Boy, was I wrong!

I was shocked at how many of the songs I actually knew!

I’m pretty sure I knew 95% of the songs. In fact, I was swaying along with my Grandma throughout the entire show. That style of music, there is just something about it that you can’t help but tap your feet or dance.

The talent of the singers was also on another level! How four men can get their voices that high will be a mystery! It looked effortless! Especially when they were singing some of the classics like ‘Sherry’, ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’, ‘Let’s Hang On’ and ‘Walk Like a Man’. The talents that those men have are just insane.

I loved that the show focused on the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

There was little talking throughout the show, there were little bits to give some background info on the group. It was actually nice to hear a little about some of the songs that were written and why they were written. But, it was lovely for the show to be jam-packed with songs such as ‘December, 1963 (Oh What a Night!)’, ‘Grease’ (yep, Frankie Valli wrote the opening song to Grease, did no know that!), ‘Bye Bye Baby (Baby Goodbye)’ and ‘Can’t take my Eyes of You’. I mean, that is only a glimpse at some of the songs. The list is endless and you will know the majority of them! (My Spotify playlists are now FULL of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons songs!).

Thank you so much to BHlive Tickets and the Bournemouth Bloggers for having me and my Grandma to see New Jersey Nights. My Grandma (and I) had such a lovely evening! Thank you.
