Thrive: Feel Stress Free | App Review

I have had a lot of coursework deadlines recently and I mean, a lot! They have all started to get on top of me a little and I’ve needed something to calm me down. Well this is where Thrive has come in. Thrive is a website that is all about living life stress free and I am sure we all need something we desire!

What is Thrive: Feel Stress Free?

Thrive: Feel Stress Free is an app that requires a subscription service for a stress free life! The app Thrive encourages you to record your mood everyday and it provides different activities to destress you. Thrive claims to “detect, prevent and help manage common mental health conditions”. The app was developed by experienced psychiatrists and is based around techniques like CBT and mindfulness to help with these common mental health issues.

Music

Just wanted to point out the music that they use as the background music is so calming and lovely! I felt so relaxed when listening to that music. I truly felt zen!

Activities

Every day, you log on to the app. The app then asks how you are feeling and what is making you happy/sad. After completing this, the app gives you certain activities that will make you feel stress free. This normally involves doing some physical exercise and also doing some breathing exercises. I have found these breathing exercises really useful!

However, there is more to this app than just breathing exercises and meditation! There are a few mind calming games, such as the Zen Garden (where you can create your one little garden and decorate it how you like), Wise Words (where you have to create words out of a square) and my personal favourite, Zen Challenge. In Zen Challenge you have to try and connect the coloured buckets to the matching coloured buckets. I love these kind of games and they are some of my favourites to play!

Message in a Bottle

I think my favourite thing about this app was the Message in a Bottle section. Everyday a random user will send a message into a bottle and it will be delivered to your island. On there is usually some words of motivation or some useful advice. You can also send out messages to people and design a little post card for someone to read. I really like this aspect and have not found it in other calming and stress free apps so this makes this one stand out for me! I love opening the app and receiving a message, it makes me feel all good inside.

Do I recommend this App?

If you suffer with stress or anxiety or are just looking for an app that will calm you down, then I believe that this is genuinely a good app. However, this is not an alternative for seeking help from a doctor. The subscription price for this app I also think is genuinely reasonable and not something that is going to break the bank. (£3.99 per month!)
