A little while ago, I headed down to a Spa here in the New Forest that uses Elemis products. I had never used Elemis products before, so I was excited to see if my skin would love it or not as my skin is fairly dry.
One of the products that was recommended to me was the hydra-boost serum. So, in a plea to help my skin out, I decided to splurge and get the serum. I’ve been using it for a while now, and I thought it was about time to tell you my thoughts on this bad boy of a serum.
Now, if you are a skin care newbie, like myself, then you will have no idea what a serum is (cause believe me I didn’t!). A serum is a product that you apply after cleansing your skin in the morning, but before your moisturiser. I guess it is a little confusing as a serum isn’t a moisturiser, it does kind of moisturise the skin. You could say that serums are like an intense moisturiser in a sense as it is made up of small molecules that can deeply penetrate the skin. So serums are great for targeting certain areas. However, at the same time, serum is not really a moisturiser at all…? Is this making any sense? I think the best way to explain it, is that serums help retain the moisture, however, it doesn’t create a barrier like creams do. So a serum does not replace moisturiser.
To get perfect results, you need to cleanse your skin before applying the serum. Now, I’m going to be real here, I don’t always do this as I don’t always have the time to. However, I do cleanse my skin the night before so I mean I guess that counts? I apply this after I’ve cleansed (if I remember) and before my moisturiser.
The serum has kind of a tacky feel to it and reminds me of a primer more than something to moisturise the skin. However, the tacky vibe is so that the moisturiser can stick and sink into the skin.
Since using this for a while and using it on pretty much a daily basis, I have nitride that my skin is generally a lot softer than when I was using the moisturiser on its own. I am actually really impressed with this. Its like my skin is almost brand new! My skin has not been this soft on a daily basis for a long while. I am actually super impressed and really happy with how my skin feels.
I really like this Elemis Hydra-Boost Serum and it has become a real part of my daily routine. Its really great to see small steps of skin improvement since using this product. I will definitely be repurchasing again!
