Books I want to Read in 2020

Now, I know what you are going to say. Ciara, it’s the end of March, why are you only posting this now?! What have you been doing for the last three months? Well, its been a bit of a strange there months right?! (Especially at the moment, but that is a post for another day!). Anyways, in my goals post that I wrote a little while a go, I said that I wanted to read more. Ok, I know, I say this every year! But this year, I have actually set myself a realistic goal for once! This year, I’m going with 6 books. Why 6? Well, that’s one book every two months. So, the plan is to double the amount of books that I read last year. Yep, that’s right, I only managed to read 3 books last year! I mean that is an achievement as the year before I didn’t read any!

Anyways, lets move onto the books that I intend to read this year…

1. Before I Die, Jenny Hownham

books

This is such a depressing title and yeah, it’s your typical ‘I’m about to die so lets complete everything on my bucket list’ feel about it. One of them being that she wants a boyfriend… typical! But so far I’m enjoying it. I’m about 100 pages in so far. It’s pretty easy to read, which is what I enjoy, as I like something simple otherwise I get frustrated and bored.

2. When the Curtain Falls, Carrie Hope Fletcher

books

If you’ve read my blog before, you will know that I love Carrie Hope Fletcher. When I read a book of hers, I can’t put it down! So, I’m hoping that with this one it’s the same. From what I’ve heard and read about the book, it’s another romance. I think you may be able to tell what kind of books I like 😂. I mean, Fletcher’s books are quite simple, and straight forward to read.

3. Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine, Gail Honeyman

books

This was one that I wanted to read last year, but never got round to it. This one is on the list cause I remember a couple summers back, everyone and their Mum was going on about this book. So, being the basic white girl that I am, I have to follow all the trends that everyone else is following to feel like I belong. To be honest, I did start a little of this book last year (like a while ago last year, well long enough that I have forgotten it anyway!) and I quite enjoyed it, so I’m looking forward to starting it again and hopefully finishing it!

4. Holding Up the Universe, Jennifer Niven

books

Another one from last year. (Can you tell, that I know I defo did not read enough last year!). I believe I said it before, but I love Niven’s previous book All the Bright Places (the film, not so much!), so I assume that I will love this one as well. The only difference from last year is that I actually have a copy of the book! From reading the blurb, I feel like this one is going to hit pretty close to home, considering the first couple of lines are about someone struggling with their weight and the fact that their Mum has died! However, there is a little bit of romance in their! That sounds more like a me book! 😂

5. The PotionDiaries: Royal Tour, Amy Alward

books

Ok, ok, I know, another from last year. I only managed 3 books and there were 12+ on the list, so no wonder they are all appearing on this list this year! This book is a continuation of The Potion Diaries trilogy. I LOVED the first book, so I’m hoping that I can grip my teeth into the second book, and then maybe I will try the last one. It’s a fantasy book, which every now and then I like to throw something completely unrealistic into the mix! I mean, it’s a teen book, it will be right up my ally!

6. The Sky is Everywhere, Jandy Nelson

books

This has been on my to be read list for a while (however, I would like to point out that this was not on last year’s list, thought I might mix it up and put a different book on here, just so you don’t think that I am copying and pasting last years post just for more content!). The blurb literally says ‘A heart-breaking, heart-lifting, utterly compelling and completely unforgettable novel about first love and first loss.’. Well if that sentence has not described most of the books on this list for the year, then I have no idea what does!

Obviously, there are so many other books that I want to read.

I mean, all you have to do is read last years post about the books that I wanted to read and see how many I did not read and yes, some of the books are the same as last year, cause I need to read the books that I have already purchased before I can purchase loads more! (and trust me, there are so many books that I want to purchase!). Hopefully, I will manage to squeeze in some more reading here and there. I would really love to complete my goal of 6 books, cause it doesn’t seem like that may books! Maybe with this lockdown I might be able to squeeze a couple in there. To keep up with my reading habits, you should follow me on GoodReads cause I’m pretty good at keeping up with my tracking on there. Plus, occasionally I write little reviews on there of my favourite books.

If you have any book recommendations, please hit me up with them! I need more book inspiration!
