Well, it has been almost a month since I have uploaded and I thought I would update you on what has been going on in my life since the last update post.
Where have I been?
When you look at my schedule, you will think that I have been sat on my backside doing nothing, but really, I’ve just been trying to help plan out my future. January was a great month for overtime at work. There were two weeks where I was there almost everyday (which was great for my bank account). It was a very tiering two weeks, then add in the fact that I was preparing for my university interview.
Now, you may think, well that’s only answering a handful of questions, what preparation would you need for that? Well, you are correct. Most interviews you can just answer questions, however, I am applying for film production which is a very creative course, and its also pretty competitive! For the interview, I needed a portfolio AND a showreel. Just to explain for those that don’t know, a portfolio is a collection of work that you have done and a showreel, is the highlights of all the films you have made. For most people, a showreel would probably not take that long, but for me, I struggles as I didn’t really have a clue what I was doing! I actually completely changed my showreel the night before, which is not ideal, but I’m so glad I did!
Anyways, I had a lot to do to prepare for the interview. So, that has been keeping me busy, plus because of it, my stress levels have been through the roof! So, when it comes to the YouTube channel and the blog, I have been putting it at the back of my thoughts.
What’s happening now?
Well, I had my interview on Tuesday and yesterday (31st Jan) I found out that I got in! Yes, that’s right, your girl here got unconditional offers from all three universities that she applied to! Also yesterday, I accepted my unconditional from the Arts University of Bournemouth (AUB) to study film production for three years. I’m beyond excited about this as when I decided that I wanted to go to university, I knew that AUB was where I wanted to go. I’m incredibly excited to be starting there in September, and I can’t wait to start.
Apart from that, I don’t really have anything else happening in my life right now. I expect that I will attend more blogging events and I will probably head back to Disneyland Paris at some point and I will probably take lots of overtime at work!
YouTube and Blogging?
After my interview on Tuesday, I actually started a serious editing mission and got all the weekly vlogs that I had in my SD card edited, which I am so pleased about. They have all been uploaded too, so you should check them out! So, my plan is from now on, I will be uploading a weekly vlog on a Wednesday at 6pm (if I have filmed on for that week) and a Disney vlog on a Friday at 4pm. I have three trips worth of Disney vlogs to get on with, so I need to get a move on with those. I’m also going to try and film another video for a Sunday. The Sunday videos may not be every week, but they will be as often as I can.
The blog, well I have lots of posts that I NEED to write. So like on my Youtube, there may be a week where there is a post almost every day as I am busy writing up all the posts that I was supposed to do and others that I just want to! But the plan is eventually to come up with some kind of schedule that works for me. I want to publish a post at least twice a week, maybe even three times, but we will see. Currently its up in the air, but I do want to get back into the swing of writing.
How those goals going?
Is it bad that I had to go and look back at my post to remember what they were? Thats probably not a good sign right?
Well, the university front is done! I have got my place and I have also confirmed it, so we definitely know that I am going and where I will be studying.
Making my bed every day. Yep, still working on this one. I have developed such a bad habit and its hard to break it, but I am going to keep going. I need to get out of bed that few minutes earlier so I don’t leave it!
Keeping my desk clear. Well, I kind of knew that I wasn’t going to actually start this one till February. So, now I have no excuse. I need to get on with it.
Seeing more films Yep, I’ve only seen one film at the cinema this year. Will book one for next week
Blog and YouTube. Well, I’m only starting to make progress on these. So thats another no.
So essentially, no they aren’t going great. But, now that I have no excuse I’m going to have to get on with them!
Well there we have it. That’s my little update for February. I feel like its quite an important update, as university is a pretty big thing. If anyone is after some advice on applying for film production courses let me know and I may type up a blog post or two!
