New Years Goals and Resolution – 2024

Happy New Year! I can’t quite believe that it’s been a whole year since I last wrote here. A lot happened in 2023 that I would like to mention in another post at some point in the future, but for now, let’s keep it light-hearted and talk about my goals and resolution for 2024.

So here we are, my goals and resolutions for 2024:

1. Get back into old hobbies

Over the past few years, I have seemed to be very distracted and not engaged in certain things. I have had so many hobbies over the years that I now seem to have neglected. This includes; crochet, diamond painting, cross stitching, reading, blogging, making YouTube videos and so much more.

I have so many hobbies that I think I get overwhelmed and then just neglect them all and just scroll on my phone. Well this year I want to change that. I want to pick a couple and pick them back up again. Especially making content on YouTube and my blog. I have really missed it, but also argue with myself and say I don’t have the time! Well make the time Ciara!

I’ve missed doing what I love, so I need to make time for that!

2. Join a gym

I know I know… a widespread resolution… gotta lose weight, gotta get fit. I’ve never set this as a goal or resolution before because everyone sets it, the gyms are busy in January and then empty for the rest of the year. Well, I actually mean it. My boyfriend James and I have been discussing joining a gym for the past year. This time, we actually mean it. We’ve done our research and picked the one we will join. Planned times when we are actually going to go in the week. All we have to do now is to pay the money and go. We haven’t done it yet as the gym we picked has been closed for refurbishment for the entirety of December, so it’s my goal/aim for January to sign up and then by the beginning of February to start going.

I’m very excited to start this journey. A little bit of exercise will do us both good. Now this goal is not for me to lose weight (that would be a nice side effect!), it’s just to get me moving, so I don’t come home from work and just sit and do nothing other than scroll on my phone all night. It’s to encourage me to get moving. It’s been 10 years since I did proper exercise and so I just want to move while I can.

3. Get a new job.

If you have in the past watched my YouTube channel or followed me on Instagram, you may know that I left my job at Waitrose back in September. This was for me to start my new journey as a trainee teacher. I’m currently studying to be a Primary School teacher at the University of Winchester and am currently on placement at a lovely primary school near me until mid-January. I have loved every minute so far of my course and would recommend the PGCE at Winchester if anyone is thinking about it.

Anyways… come the summer, I will be fully qualified (hopefully if I pass everything lol). That means that by September, I hope to be working in a school and that means, I need to get a job. I hate the application and interview process but it is necessary for me to progress to the next step. So, I really hope that by September, I will have a new job as a school teacher, and even better to get a school that I fit in at!

4. Be a little bit more organised

This is mainly about work and uni work. I am brilliant at doing everything at the last minute. So this is me telling myself that I can no longer do that. I’m pretty sure I have had this goal for quite some time now. I did start making improvements on this last year when I wrote my essay for uni and started it very early and finished a good 24 hours before the deadline, which was unheard of for me. My plan is to improve on this so that I don’t have to rush everything and get myself so stressed. It’s a work in progress in my opinion! I want to bring this resolution into my whole life. Just being more on top of things so there is less rushing as a whole.

5. Be tidier

I’ve always had this idea that I am a tidy person, but now living with somebody else, just shows me how untidy I can be. I’m a dab hand at a floordrobe! I moan at James for this, then he fights back and says look at your side of the bed, to which I am then so embarrassed! So this is a big resolution for me! I must be tidier! I must put things away, make my bed, and do the dishes even when I don’t want to! Just be tidier. Clean the kitchen, pack away things, and make my desk a tidy space so I can actually use it to plan my lessons. Tidy living space, tidy mind!

This for me also includes my car. Between Christmas and New Year I cleaned my car out of all the crap I have accumulated in it for the past 6 months or so. I also took it into be cleaned and it looks gorgeous. So every couple months the car needs to be cleaned and tidied too!

There we go. My goals and resolution for 2024.

What are your goals and resolutions for this year? I think that I have set some realistic ones. I just hope that I can keep them up and stick to them as I think they would all be good for me to benefit from!
