This post is not sponsored. I was invited to The Stable in Bournemouth for a Pizza School with complimentary drinks and food along with the Bournemouth Bloggers in exchange for a review. However, all thoughts and opinion are my own.
A couple weeks ago, I headed to The Stable in Bournemouth along with the Bournemouth Bloggers for Pizza School. This is where we learnt the art of making The Stable’s signature sauce and their famous pizza dough. So, yes, I now know all the secrets behind the art of making the perfect pizza, thanks to The Stable.
We started the evening with drinks and even better, nibbles! There was a selection of sharing platters which were divine. They included breads, dips, cheese and a few healthy bits. However, I didn’t eat much of this as I knew pizza would be coming soon!
Now, onto Pizza School!
First, we learnt how to make the tomato sauce. Each Stable make their own sauces daily. There is so much care and thought put into their sauce. There is also a lot of thought that goes into making sure that they have the best ingredients. It pays off, as it smelt (and tasted) delicious!
Next, was the dough. The Stable also make their own Sourdough pizza bases daily. The chefs told us all about the processes that they go through to make the dough the best. They even showed us their precious sourdough starter named Gerry. We even got to try Gerry! I’m not going to lie, Gerry did not taste nice, very sour! (Guess that’s why they call it a sourdough!). If you are not a pizza makers/sourdough experts, then Gerry is what the Italians call the ‘mother dough’. Essentially, it’s a type of yeast that they have to feed on a regular basis. The Stable feed their’s with apple cores, as they are known for their ciders (makes sense). That’s why they named it! This is so people wouldn’t forget to feed it! GENIUS!
Once we had learnt all there was to know about making the dough and the sauce, it was time for all us bloggers to make our own pizzas!
Thankfully, the dough was already rolled out. I have tried to roll out dough before at other events, and well lets just say that my pizza was very thick and didn’t cook all that well! Anyway, back onto The Stable!
On my pizza, I went for pizza sauce, mozzarella, chorizo, mushrooms and some red onion! DELICIOUS! I was told that my pizza looked like a pizza that would work well and would cook really nicely, which is something that I am not told try often when I make pizzas! Normally, my combinations are so weird!
The chefs cooked our pizzas and we were left to enjoy! I was very pleased with how my pizza turned out. In fact, it was the perfect pizza for me!
I had an amazing evening at The Stable in Bournemouth with the Bournemouth Bloggers. I learnt so much about pizza!
