What I’ve Been Watching – May 2022

My Mum and Step-Dad have been away on holiday for the majority of May. Which means I have control of the remote. Well… not exactly. My boyfriend James has moved in as he now has a job down in Bournemouth, so when he’s not at home, I’m in charge. However, as soon as he comes in, somehow I lose all TV choice privaleges! But anyway, nevertheless, here is what I have been watching on Netflix and Disney + this month.

Just as a warning, there may be some spoilers along the way. So read with caution! You have been warned.

Love is Blind – Season 2

I LOVED the first season of this. However, somehow completely missed that they had done a second season. I was in the mood for reality TV so on went Love is Blind. The concept of this show completely baffles me. How you can fall in love with someone whom you’ve not seen just is mind boggling.

The second season is still good. However, I don’t feel like I really liked any of the participants. Like they were nice enough, I just felt that it was much faker this year than other years. Maybe the first season was more pure purely based on the fact that it had not really been done before.

The Ultimatum

I was still on my reality TV trash binge at this point. The Ultimatum is the most ridiculous show I think I have ever seen. Even more so than Love Island (which is complete trash!). This show one person from the couple has given the other person an ultimatum – marriage of broken up. I mean, this is just stupid. You’d rather leave someone than not be married?!?! It just makes no sense in my head. AT ALL!

Also, I felt that a lot of the girls were SUPER bitchy and just not nice people to be around. It didn’t feel very realistic to me. It was made by the same people as Love is Blind which is why I picked it. However, it just was not for me. I wouldn’t recommend nor would I watch season 2 (probably).

Marriage vs. Mortgage

I adore the concept of this show. I’m in a similar boat here. (Not that I have been asked yet but its on the cards). I’ve not been one of those girls who have dreamed of their wedding their whole life. But it is certainly an aspect of life that I want. However, I also want a really nice house. Like a dream house. But it all costs money, HUGE money. There is that choice for right now of, do I spend the money that I have worked so hard to save for on a house that will last me for ever and I can move houses and get bigger and better ones. Or, do I blow it all on one day where the memories will last a life time.

Seeing so many couples also going through the same is really reassuring that it is not only me in that boat. But also, some of the houses these couples are passing up is just insane to me. But at the same time when I flip the coin, the deals that the wedding planner on the show seems to keep getting week aft week is just too good to pass up. Like you could save for a house again and find a dreamy one for you, but the deals that the wedding planner gets are once in a lifetime. I don’t think I will have similar luck of the deals as I’m not planning on going on a TV show for my wedding. For me, I think it’s probably going to be house first, wedding second.

Bridgerton – Season 2

March was a busy month for me, so I never got round to watching Season 2 of Bridgerton. Well, now that I have had some free time on my hands and also full access to the TV downstairs, I thought what a perfect opportunity. I loved season 1. In fact, I think I watched it twice.

Season 2 focuses on Anthony Bridgerton trying to find his Viscountess. This season was nice as there was less sex and it was more about the connection between Miss Sharma and Anthony. I also liked that they focused on Eloise and Penelope’s friendship as Eloise is still on the hunt for Lady Whistledown and Penelope is still trying to hide that part of herself.

I’m really looking forward to season 3 where they are going to be focusing on Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton. Here’s hoping that they end up together!

The Circle

I went full circle (pun intended) and went back to reality TV and watched The Circle. This is a show that if I was confident enough, I would LOVE to go on. I don’t think I’d win, but the experience alone would be enough. However, the fact that you are stuck in an apartment for weeks without leaving to get fresh air is not something that fills me with complete and utter joy. I don’t think they are even allowed their windows open incase they hear another player. Something that would send me round the twist I think. Plus I wouldn’t want to be without contact from my Mum for that long.

ANYWAYS! I love this show. Also, spoiler alert but this year Mel B and Emma Bunton from the Spice Girls were on! What a twist. Loved that. I’d love to see more celebrities go on and be a part of the show. Or maybe they could do a celebrity version! No idea how that would work, but I think it could be very interesting!

Wandavision

James and I have been watching this for ages. We didn’t just decide in May to start watching this. This has been on the radar for months. However, it has just taken us so long to complete. Now that we practically live together it is going to be much easier to continue watching our TV shows together, rather than starting them and completely forgetting about them!

ANYWAYS. We haven’t quite finished it yet, hopefully in June we might! I’m very behind with the whole Marvel thing, having only watched Infinity War and End Game late last year. I’m trying my best to catch-up but there’s just so damn much. It would have been much easier if I had started watching the Marvel movies back in 2008, but alas, here we are, 2022, and still behind! (I’m hoping to catchup a bit so that I can see Dr Strange in cinema, but it is looking unlikely!).

Next on the list for Marvel shows is Falcon and the Winter Soldier (yes, I’m that far behind!).

Star Wars

Yes, I know this is a movie franchise, but to get ready for the release of the Obi-Wan TV show, James made me sit through the entirety of Star Wars. Which to be fair wasn’t exactly a bad thing. Not my top choice of films to watch but in the grand scheme of things, they are pretty good.

The Kardashians

Sometimes I do think I have hit an all time low, this is one of those moments. I’ve never really been a big fan of the Kardashians. But, I saw it on Disney+ and thought oh that will be easy to watch and I legit watched 6 episodes in one day. I’ve never despised myself more. LOL JK!

I think with all the stress of finishing uni, just watching something like The Kardashians was just easy and mind-numbing which was exactly what I needed. But all jokes aside. It’s actually really interesting to see how the other half live. Like their houses are incredible. Did you see Kris’s house! What the hell! I want that kitchen! The show is still on-going and I will probably finish the season, cause I am kinda now hooked on the show unfortunately! I guess The Kardashians are kinda like the original vlog right? Just with a bit more drama. Like we follow them about doing their day-to-day thing. However, it’s just a little bit more unrealistic considering that Kendall Jenner can barely chop a cucumber!

I feel like this was quite a lot of TV (especially reality TV for me lol) whilst I was still studying at uni. I’m just in shock after re-reading this again at how many reality TV shows I watched and am still going with them (Love Island I see you!). Anything you have watched this month? Something to get me out of my reality TV binge? Please let me know and help me lol! I can’t just keep watching reality TV cause its so bad that its good! NOOOOOO!
