Over the last few years, I have been reluctant to have ‘New Years Resolutions’ as I never manage to achieve them. So I started calling them goals, but then got disappointed when I never achieved them. Now, I’m not sure what to call them, so let’s just stick with resolutions for now. Anyway, here are my resolutions for 2023.
1. Couch to 5k
I’ve known about the Couch to 5k program for a few years now. I’ve only attempted it once and calling it an attempt would be a little ridiculous. I went on a run once and really struggled, so didn’t go on another run again. Well, this time, I would really like to try it again and try and complete it. Even if it takes me longer and I have to repeat weeks as I have not done any exercise really for a very long time.
There is no other ulterior motive with this, apart from trying to exercise a bit more. Losing weight would just be a bonus!
2. Eating Better by Cooking more
Again, no ulterior motive with this, apart from the fact that I enjoy cooking and creating meals. My Mum got an air fryer for Christmas so I would like to have a little play with that and learn about cooking with one.
I also just thoroughly enjoy cooking. Since changing my hours at work to early mornings, I have been less good with the whole cooking thing. It’s easier to just shove something in the oven. But not as fun or as tasty. I think this is where my slow cooker will come in handy. Just need to find a couple more recipes that are full of flavour and deliciousness! (Any recommendations will be much appreciated!).
3. Read more
Last year, I was over the moon with my progress in reading. I managed to achieve reading 6 books! Something which I haven’t done for a very long time. Six books does not sound like an achievement, but the reality is, I have really struggled to find the time to read and some years I have only read 1 book and occasionally no books at all (which I am very ashamed of).
This year I plan on continuing with my reading. I would obviously like to increase the amount of books. Ideally, I’d like to read a book a month, making that 12 books. However, I am probably going to be a little more realistic in my amount of books. So let’s just increase that to 7 books this year. Only adding one book will make this more achievable for me I think!
4. Be a bit tidier
This is one that really should have been on the resolutions list for a long while. I’m not the tidiest of people. I forget to make my bed. My desk is a mess. I occasionally have a floordrobe. It’s just not the best. So this year, I plan to do a little every day to help keep my room and surrounding areas tidier. Little things like making my bed every day will help. Putting my shoes and coat away after being out, just make the place look 1000 times better. Picking up little habbits like that will not make the tidying such a big job.
5. Be more active on socials
This encompasses all my socials. YouTube, Blog, Instagram, Tik Tok and any others that pop up along the way. I have always loved social media. It was only up until recently that I thought I would like a career in the marketing world. However, I think I will keep it as a hobby. Don’t get me wrong, if the perfect opportunity came knocking on my door, then I would jump. But, I don’t think it is on the cards for me. Anyways! I would like to be more active. Even if its posting on my insta stories, or making a silly little tiktok. I do want to post more on YouTube and here. I think the weekly vlog thing for me is a little over. Don’t get me wrong! I loved filming them and they served a time and purpose. But, I think for now, I need to figure out something else. Weekly blogging doesn’t necessarily fit in with my life anymore. I’m still figuring it out, but hopefully over the next couple weeks, I will figure something out and a sort of schedule for both here and my YouTube channel.
6. Re-open the Cosmic Frog Shop
During lockdown I opened a small shop on Etsy. I loved creating things for The Cosmic Frog Shop. I loved fulfilling orders and just being busy crafting. However, once life started to go a little bit back to normal and I was back at university, I struggled to fulfil orders within the time required. So, I closed the shop. It was only supposed to be closed for a month or 2 to get me back on track with uni work. However, the shop has been closed for a year and I miss it. It might take me a couple months to build up some stock and create some new products, but I would like to re-open the shop for orders in the next 3-4 months. This would be with old favourite products returning, and some lovely new ones. Just got to try and get on with the designs!
7. Move Out
This is a weird one. It is a resolution, but if this one doesn’t happen then it won’t be the end of the world. However, it is looking quite likely. My boyfriend moved down to Bournemouth last year. It was great! I was so pleased. He lived with me and my family for about a month and then got his own place.
But, now, I think its the right time that we moved in together. In May his tenancy will be up and he wants to move out of the flat he is currently in, so it makes sense.
This does fill me with dread, however. I have never moved out of home. Home is my favourite place and I love it and am definitely scared that I won’t cope. (I definitely have some kind of separation anxiety from my family lol).
And there we have it. My New Years Resolutions for 2023. A mixture of different things there. However, I do think they are all achievable. Well, at least I hope they are!
